WHM Jewelry is a collaboration between sisters Wendy Hacker-Moss and Elisa "tinkerbell" Moss. The partnership between the two is not unlike the jewelry they produce, uniting form and function with style and beauty.
Their dedication to function and beauty culminates in WHM's signature design of stainless steel mesh origami. Whether clustered or alone, the hand folded stainless steel flowers are a truly unique and one-of-a kind creation. All WHM Jewelry is created and handmade in California and whenever possible they utilize recycled sterling silver. Known as the "diamond of metals," stainless steel is natural in origin, doesn't stain or corrode and is 100% recyclable. Wendy and Elisa purchase materials locally when available in their commitment to support the community and local economy.
Elisa admired Wendy's jewelry designs for years, but was hesitant to ask for a piece to wear fearing her active lifestyle would be too much wear and tear for the jewelry to handle. Once she did, Wendy took it as an opportunity to see how her intricate designs would sustain day-to-day wear: "Elisa is my official tester. If she can wear it for 3 months straight, that's equal to the wear of another person's lifetime!" So Elisa wore the Bouquet ring daily through her rigorous routine including everything from bicycle commutes and catering gigs during the day to art galleries and music halls at night. "Months later, strangers still ask me about my Bouquet ring, whether I'm riding the bus, out at a nice restaurant, or even having drinks at my local dive bar."
Wendy and Elisa's unique talents merge to form a solid business and design team. Armed with an BFA in 3D Media and an MBA in Non-Profit Business Management, Wendy has the education to take the designs from conception to reality. Elisa, who had success designing and marketing her own jewelry line Jelly Jewels in the 90's, collaborates on designs as well as implements her net-working savvy to propel WHM Jewelry from it's West Coast base into boutiques and craft shows worldwide.
Wendy Hacker-Moss has a BFA in 3D Media (metal, textiles, wood) and a teaching credential in Art from California State University Long Beach. She also has an M.B.A. in Nonprofit Business Management from the University of Judaism Bel Air. She has taught and lectured at Cypress College, Torrance Cultural Arts Center, California State University Long Beach, and other institutions. Her work was included in publications such as "Metalsmith's Exhibition in Print 2006" Metalsmith Magazine, Lapidary Journal, "500 Wedding Rings" by Lark Books and "Adorned: New Jewelry" by Amanda Mansell. Her work has been featured in exhibitions at the Karen Melfi Gallery in Santa Fe, Sculpture to Wear Gallery in Santa Monica and the Metal Museum in Memphis. Her jewelry has been worn on the red carpet, television and film.
Elisa "tinkerbell" Moss lives in San Francisco but commutes to Los Angeles regularly for her work with WHM. She has been interested in fashion since she was a child with a mother who showed her that a trend is a trend but style is a lifetime. After successfully launching Jelly Jewels in the mid 90's Elisa worked at Wasteland on Melrose in Los Angeles where she furthered her knowledge of the history of fashion, there she worked alongside some of todays great Los Angeles based designers. She holds a culinary degree and is known for her unique style and creativity. A featured member of the musical group, Quazar and the Bamboozled, she cites her extensive travels and interactions with artists and musicians from around the world as her primary influences.
